The main focus of the March Newsletter was Gulf Wars, this Gulf Wars will go down in history as the War of the Plague.    The Barony of Castlemere had its own encampment for the first time.

The crossbow and the archery battles at the Ravine were crucial war points taken by the Kingdom of Trimaris.  The Fighters and Fencers who crossed over and fought those battles made the crucial difference.  In one battle sure to go down in Trimarian history, we shot every single bolt that had been levied on the Baronies (300 per Barony and smaller amounts for Shires) and the opposition left the field -- just as we had used ALL of our bolts!

The only pictures your Chronicler managed to take were of the Procession on the way to the Opening Ceremonies.   I am including them below.  Of all the groups that processed passed us Trimaris was one of two whose heraldic display was excellent.  Many thanks go to David of the Vale (David Phillips) for all that banner work.

The pictures captures some of the pageantry it does not convey the entire experience with the groups who went by singing their kingdom's song, those that drummed, played horns, rang bells and it fails to show the size of some of those horses!

In addition to hosting Royalty both Majesties and Highnesses, Baron and Baronesses from all over the realm, Castlemere was also host to a young man name Chris Leclerc who was/is making a documentary of the SCA in Trimaris and how we transmit out culture.
He is a student at the University of Manchester, in Great Britain and this project will be his Master Thesis in Visual Anthropology.

Chris was raised in the Jacksonville area and knows many of the old time Castlemere folks.

He has been seen at numerous events through out Trimaris since Investiture including  St. Val's, Swapything, Gulf Wars, Coronation and even spent a day at the BARF festival.

Surely a Trimarian first, the formation of Castlemere's first Canton was announced at Investiture.
There are 13 individuals in the Canton and they have fielded three officers.  HL Deirdre Ui Mhaille (making the announcement) will serve as Seneschal,  Lord Dalkr (also known as Greybeard) will
serves as the A&S Minister and Reno will fill the position of Herald for the canton.

The Canton has chosen the name Puerto des Leones - which translates to Lion's Bridge and pays homage to the Spanish founding of the historic St. Augustine area as well as to the Alhambra with it's Lion's Fountain.

In addition to the newsletter photographs, we held a unique Largesse contest called the Dirty Dozen and Mistress Mayken took some marvelous pictures of the entrants.  There was a plethora of items donated and they were split between the kingdom and the barony.  The winner got to have one item from each of the entries, the second place winner got to choose three items from the entries and the third place winner got to select one item.  It was a really great success!
